Bohemian Flower Nail Art

Sunday again and time to change that worn manicure! This is a bit of a Sunday ritual for me, and this Sunday it is extra important as I have a black design on that is more than ready to be removed. Plus I'm starting a new job tomorrow so gotta look sharp ^-^.

The nail art I'm showing on the blog today is as you might've gathered not my current look but something I did in December when I was on a bit of a freehand high. I found the inspiration on the IKEA website and a mug called Finstilt. I really liked the bohemian floral design and think it translated quite well to nail art together with a few glittery polishes from FUN Lacquer.

Söndag igen och dags att byta ut den skavda manikyren! Det är lite av en söndagsritual för mig, och idag känns det extra viktigt då jag dels har flera svarta naglar som är mycket skavda och dels börjar jag ett nytt jobb imorgon och då vill man ju vara fin ^-^.

Naglarna jag visar i dagens blogginlägg är således inte hur mina naglar ser ut just nu men något jag målade i december då jag hade flow att göra fler frihandsritade designs. Jag hittade mönstret som inspirerade till denna hos IKEA och en mugg som heter Finstilt. Jag gillade verkligen den bohemiska känslan och tycker blommönstret funkar riktigt bra även som manikyr. Jag har kombinerat blommorna med några favoritlack från FUN Lacquer.

Masura Lavender Lemonade Silver Sparkle Nail Art

Today is a big day, not only is this my 700th blog post but it was also my the last day at my current workplace!

Now I am just a weekend away from being the new girl who is struggling to remember names and acronyms. I am very much looking forward to the new job even though it's sad to say goodbye to colleagues and the known.

Now onto the manicure, I painted it right after New Year's. I had been without polish for a few days and wanted something a bit blingy so combined a water decal, a glitter gradient and a little crystal.

Idag är en spännande dag, jag publicerar mitt 700e blogginlägg och så har jag jobbat sista arbetsdagen på nuvarande jobbet. Det är nu bara en kort helg tills jag är den nya tjejen som har svårt att hålla isär folks namn och inte kan de interna förkortningarna. Jag ser jättemycket fram emot att det nya, men det är alltid lite vemodigt att säga adjö till kollegorna och det gamla jobbet.

Så till manikyren, den målade jag precis efter nyår. Jag hade varit utan lack ett par dagar och ville ha något som var lite blingigt så det blev en kombination av en vattendekal, en glittergradient och så en liten kristall till det.

Matte Flakie Nail Art

Today is the last day of my two week long Christmas holiday and as always I feel like I didn't have time to do even half of the things I wanted to, but at least I feel relaxed and ready for the new year.

Today's nail art is the first time I've been truly happy with the result of colour changing flakies. In the past I've struggled to get them to lie perfectly flat on the nail but this time it looked exactly how I intended it to! The only difference I can think of is that I applied less flakies this time... Less is more might be the right recipe. On top of the flakies I've painted a branch like design with pale grey acrylic paint and finished it off with matte top coat.

Idag är sista dagen på min julsemester och som vanligt känns det som jag inte riktigt hunnit med det jag tänkt. Men jag är åtminstone utvilad och redo för det nya året så det får väl duga så!

Dagens naglar är jag väldigt nöjd med av en anledning, det här är första gången jag lyckats få flakies att ligga helt platt på nageln, tidigare har de alltid stuckit upp och stört oavsett hur många lager överlack jag använt. Jag tror att det som blev rätt den här gången är att jag använde färre flakies så det blev inte så knöligt eller tjockt på nageln. Ska se om det funkar även nästa gång! Sen har jag målat ett litet grenmotiv ovanpå i grå akrylfärg och avslutat med matt överlack.

Year in Review - 2018

I'm starting off the new year with the annual retrospect of favourite manicures of last year.

As always, I will divide this post into three parts:

• The second three are picked by my favourite everything S, he often enjoys different things from myself so it's always fun getting his take on the year.
• The final three are my personal favourites.

I've been pretty regular trying to post twice weekly but had a bit of a summer break so landed on 88 manicures this year. This year has seen a drop in both post views as well as comments here on May Contain Traces of Polish (something I gather is also happening in other blogs as people are moving to new and quicker social media). An extra thank you to you for continuing to read and sometimes comment, it is much more fun for me when there is feedback! I still really like the blog format and will continue to publish semi-regularly also in the new year.

First up we have some striking orchid nails.

I remember struggling with this folklore bird nail art so much but I'm glad it was well liked! It took forever to get the stamping to look decent and I redid all nails multiple times.

Thirdly we have another stamped look from the beginning of 2018. If I remember correctly also this one caused me some pain to get in place as the thin stems of the hearts dried while I was filling them in and didn't transfer well.

A bit surprised that S fell for this floral look but he really liked the translucent effect so I'm happy to add it to the list this year.

I'm glad S liked this abstract landscape as much as I did. 

Third favourite of S and quite fittingly a manicure inspired by Harry Potter. We just finished a marathon watching all 8 movies the other night and are also on the final chapters of the last book.

I did quite a few swirl marbles this year. This was one of my first and still a favourite. How perfect is that green KIKO by the way?

Second favourite is an abstract floral for the 31 Day Challenge. After some debate I picked this over the lavender look but I very much liked both of them!

Last but not least a Christmas design. This ended up so great with the brown holo base and the green mistletoe design on top.

Final blog post of 2018!

It's been an exciting year for me personally as S finally moved to Sweden, we bought an apartment to ensure there's room for both of our stuff and finally in autumn I signed the contract for a new job! I haven't started yet but will do so in two weeks so hopefully 2019 will start with a bang.

My final manicure of the year features glitter, what else? I wore this golden glitter from Darling Diva for the office Christmas party that had a disco theme. The next day I figured it was a waste not to put extra decorations on top of it so I painted a black star design to match the sparkles. I needed about five coats of top coat for this to look somewhat glossy but once in a while, there's nothing better than glitter, don't you think?

Sista inlägget för 2018! Det har varit ett spännande år för mig personligen då S äntligen flyttade till Sverige i början på året, därefter köpte vi en lägenhet för att ha plats för alla våra gemensamma grejor och slutligen i oktober skrev jag på för ett nytt jobb! Jag har ännu inte börjat men gör det om två veckor så förhoppningsvis så börjar 2019 riktigt bra.

Min sista manikyr för året har förstås glitter, vad annars? Jag bar det här guldiga glitterlacket från Darling Diva på jobbets julfest som hade discotema. Dagen därpå kände jag att det vore ju synd att ha så glittriga naglar och inte passa på att dekorera de lite så då målade jag på stjärndesignen för att passa till. Det krävdes typ fem laget överlack för att få detta att se någorlunda blankt ut men någon gång ibland är glitter det bästa som finns, eller hur?

Candy Cane Gel Nails

Merry Christmas! I have one last Christmas nail design for this year to share so I figured it's about time I get it published.

These are my actual Christmas nails that I'm currently wearing. I decided to go for gels to be able to relax and not worry about chipped nails all week and so far so good I must say. The design is loosely based on a look I saw Marta of Chitchatnails publish recently.
