Cute Negative Space Nails

Apparently I post like once per quarter now? Time flies!

Cute Negative Space Nails with Pink Gellac Glowy Pink
This design is from February, and I believe it's inspired by a similar older design of mine, which in turn is inspired by something I've seen on Instagram. Right now I seem unable to follow the trail back so can't link to references though, sorry about that!

Since I end up doing my nails a lot less often these days I mainly work with soak off gel polishes, so I can enjoy my designs a bit longer than with regular polish. This feels very different from how it was for me a few years back! Then I prioritized doing my nails multiple times per week, but right now I have fallen out of that habit. The fact that S is becoming increasingly allergic to the smell of nail polish doesn't improve the matter.

My base for this design is one of Pink Gellac's rubber base coats. I have received them as press samples (there are five in different neutral tones), this one is called Glowy Pink and has a slight shimmer that I thought would be appropriate for a negative space look. I like these rubber base coats as they have a hue/tone, saving me a layer compared to first putting on a transparent base coat and then a neutral polish on top. For me, this base coat doesn't wear quite as well as my go to base coat Gelish Foundation. This one stays nicely for a week or ten days, but not always two weeks (which I easily get from Gelish Foundation). It tends to start lifting a bit at the thumb sometime in the second week for me.

Pinky and pointer have nail foil, the rest is hand painted with gel polishes.

Pink Gellac Luminous Collection - swatches

Today I have another collection from Pink Gellac to show. This is the Luminous collection that came out earlier this year. It's a festive collection with three sparkly glitters and two creme colours that works great as bases for them.

First up is 334 Pomegranate Red. I'm wearing two coats of this classic nail polish shade, a dusty purplish pink.

On top of Pomegranate Red I'm wearing one coat of 335 Magical Gold which is a fine glitter in red and gold tones. Very pretty and great glitter pay-off.

Next up is 336 Starlight Plum over 179 Lovely Pink and 334 Pomegranate Red. I have one coat on pinkie and middle nail, two coats on the other ones. This glitter consists of different sized pink holo glitters. I prefer it over the lighter base, but it works over darker ones too.

The third glitter of the collection is 337 Funky Purple. It's a mixture of small glitters in purple, blue, gold and red as well as bar glitters. I'm wearing it over 338 Classic Blue and 266 Baby Blue, one coat on the pinkie and middle, two coats on the other. I didn't enjoy this colour at all, especially over a light base, it's a bit too carnival for me.

Finally we have two coats of 338 Classic Blue, which is a dark blue with some green tones. It reminds me of the colour of new jeans. It's both quite discreet in that it has some dustiness to it, but it's also quite noticeable, in that most people don't have dark blue nails...

Striped Rose Nail Art

Here's a little blast from the past, I recreated a manicure I did seven years back. Which colour do you prefer, this pink and red version, or the old one with neons?

Pink Gellac Uncovered 7 Collection and Swatches

After realizing I have a full four collections from Pink Gellac waiting to be published I figured it is about time to get a few of them up on the blog. I like to publish them in the order I received them, so first up is the Uncovered 7 collection that came out in autumn.

I am on Pink Gellac's press list so have been sent this collection. What I write about the polishes is of course my own thoughts.

First up is 329 Vanilla Cream, which I would describe as a very pleasant white, it has a bit of grey and yellow in it which makes it very wearable. What adds to that effect is that it's a jelly that builds up nicely. I am wearing three coats.

Next up is two coats of 330 Caramel Beige. This shade is not at all something I enjoy, it's like a beige with a lot of warm peachy tones. I think it doesn't go too well with my skin tone, but perhaps it's for someone else!

Now 331 Copper Gold is a lot more my style! I'm wearing two coats of this shade that consists of small flakes in reddish and gold tones. It looks quite duochrome in my pictures, which I don't see as much off on the swatch stick, but for sure a fun and wearable shade.

Next up is 332 Sangria Red and it really does its name justice. It's a deep wine red shade. I'm wearing two coats, which in the pictures feels a bit too little, but under normal light, it is perfectly adequate.

Last but definitely not least is 333 Oriental Spice which is the other really exciting shade in this collection, in my opinion. I'm wearing two coats, and its a dark red with shimmer in red and gold. The effect is rather a brownish red, but still with a lot of sparkle.
