Cherry Blossom Nails

Happy Easter! I'm celebrating with a trip out of town, to the windy southwestern tip of Sweden. Feels great to get a change of scenery!

Cherry Blossom Nails Sakura with Pink Gellac 179 Lovely Pink and EDM05
S has grown a big birding interest that takes both of us out to remote locations, and this past year that has been the perfect thing. For Easter we went south to a real hot spot, but apparently it's a lot more interesting in Autumn compared to Spring. All the same it's good to just be someplace new, I'm dead tired of walking around the neighbourhood in circles every day after work.

My nails for the trip are the ones I'm showing in this post. I decided to go for a real classic spring theme with some cherry blossoms, or Sakura nails. My base is two coats of Pink Gellac 179 Lovely Pink, then I stamped with Emily de Molly's plate EDM05 and KIKO 374. I filled in the flowers with some white before stamping it onto the nails.

Emily de Molly Spring Flower Manicure

It's very much still winter in my parts of the world but I've definitely started to dream about budding spring.

I think that's how I ended up creating this flowery spring look the other day. I used the leadlight technique to fill in the flower pattern from Emily de Molly EDM05. My base is also by Emily de Molly, Neutral Agreement.

Cherry blossom nail art

In May we are appropriately doing spring flowers in the Nail Challenge Collaborative. My first flower look is cherry blossoms.
This colour combination is perhaps a little unconventional but I liked it!

My base is four coats of OPI My Voice is a Little Norse. Three coats was nearly enough but did show some visible nail line still. This polish looks really spectacular in real life but sadly photographs a little dull and grey. I really enjoyeed wearing it, especially since we got some sun when I did!

Polishes used: OPI My voice is a Little Norse, Julie G 9 to 5 and Mundo de Unas Chocolate (the bottle broke during transportation so I've poured it into another bottle)

Min bas är fyra lager av OPI My Voice is a Little Norse.

Discreet stamping

The Nail Challenge Collaborative is kicking of 2015 with the theme wallpapers.
To me wallpapers is something quite exotic since my upbringing was in a white walls only household. "It's so practical" claimed my parents always. True that. My current apartment is rented and came with white walls too. Maybe the future will hold an apartment where I get to pick wallpapers? It seems like a lot of fun but also very difficult due to the endless choices on offer! If so I hope I dare to pick something a little more eye catching than what I was inspired by for my nail art today.

A medallion print seems very classic for wallpapers and can probably have any colour combination. I went for a very discreet combination, beige and white. In my head the contrast was bigger but on some of these pictures you can barely see the stamping! It's done with Emily de Molly plate EDM05 anyways. I love the designs of my Emily de Molly plates but sometimes find them a little difficult to work with. The prints are often delicate which means that the polish you're stamping with tend to dry extra fast. Half of the times I end up with an incomplete transfer on my stamper. Perhaps I should try them with Handy stamping polish instead? I tried my Konad white but it didn't work too well.

Cherry blossoming nails

This manicure was supposed to be published two weeks ago but I must have made some blogger error and it didn't. It is still an appropriate spring manicure which I really enjoyed wearing and perhaps it's a great way to say that I'm back home from Japan.

Sakura nails! Sakura means cherry blossom in Japanese. I did see lots of cherry blossoms and they were beautiful, covered in popcorn like white flowers. More interesting was the keen interest everyone seemed to have in them, the parks were full of people having picnics and snapping pictures. For every tree there were like 50 people checking it out! Some had even dressed up in kimonos to pose by the trees.

Enough about Japan. This is my contribution to Nail Art Sunday today. I've based this manicure around stamping plate EDM05 from Emily de Molly. I've used two different designs from it, stamping on all nails but the accent for which I've created a stamping decal. The plates from Emily de Molly can be found here and have a very affordable shipping. Note that only the stamping plates can be shipped outside of Australia (not the polish).

Polishes used: Estessimo Tins Mademoiselle Ceriser, Estessimo Tins The Neo-Lemon and KIKO 374. I figured it would be fitting to use Japanese polishes for this manicure :)

Scarab stamped with EDM05

I will continue to walk the fine line between blue and green. Sally Hansen Scarab is a metallic duochrome. It has lots of teal and turquoise. The colour really glows and does hide the fact that application tends to leave some brushstrokes behind. I used two coats and then stamped on it with EDM05 from Emily de Molly.

For more greens head over to Vacker & Underbar since it's Green Wednesday again. Time flies ^-^.

Tiden flyger verkligen ^-^.
