A Christmas polish

I hope everyone's enjoying their holidays! Christmas down, New years coming up. 

My Christmas was nice and relaxing, I didn't have to do too many things but could lie on the couch and read and pet cats. What a luxury. I take it from conversations with co-workers that not everyone spends their time off like this. 

Since my loving mother loves shopping I got a healthy pile of presents, including some nail polish that she bought on a weekend trip to Poland recently. One of my instant favourites is the polish I'm showing today. Kinetics Marlene, a great glittery deep orange with strong gold tones as well as hints of red and pink. This is the kind of shade that has to be seen to be appreciated. I didn't wanna overshadow it so did a simple dotted half moon with a complementing textured orange from KIKO. Even if it's simple, it is nail art and hence I can participate in this year's final Nail Art Sunday!

Marlene covers in two easy coats, it's wearable after just one but the second gives depth and beauty.

Jag hopppas alla njuter av helgerna! Julen avklarad, nyår står på tur.

Min jul var härlig och avslappnad. Jag behövde inte göra särskilt mycket utan kunde ligga i soffan och läsa och klappa katter. Vilken lyx. Utifrån vad jag hör från kollegor förstår jag att alla inte riktigt har samma typ av julfiranden.

Då min kära mor älskar att shoppa fick jag en liten hög med paket, inklusive ett antal lack som hon köpt på en weekendresa till Polen. En av mina favoriter direkt blev lacket jag visar idag. Kineticcs Marlene, en härligt glittrig djuporange färg med starka guldtoner samt spår av rött och rosa. Detta är ett sånt där lack som man måste se på riktigt för att förstå. Jag ville inte överskugga Marlene för mycket så jag adderade en enkel prickig halvmåne i en besläktad nyans från KIKOs textur-kollektion. Även om det är enkelt så är det nail art och därmed kan jag vara med på årets sista Nail Art Sunday!

Marlene täcker på två lager, det går att bära den efter bara ett lager men det andra ger djup och gör det så där extra snyggt.

Snowy nails

I'm scheduling this post since I assume I will be too busy with Christmas activities on the 25th. Of course the real celebrations take place on the 24th but there are always lingering activities to take care of! Hope you are enjoying the holidays too!

Last week I felt like freehanding some snowflakes since I've seen so many of them on Instagram (all looking fabulous). I figured it might be fun to play with a texture polish while doing so, creating a bit of a raised relief. It was! The effect itsn't terribly strong but still visible. 

The base is a mint polish from Essence topped with a glitter from Wet n Wild. My textured polish is p2 Precious, a dupe for Isadora Gold Crush as far as I can tell. One thing I particularly like about this look is that it only features budget brands but together form something that looks, if not high-end, then at least very nice :)

Jag schemalägger detta inlägg då jag utgår från att jag har för fullt upp med julaktiviteter för att hinna med den 25e. Självklart var ju de riktiga firandena igår men det finns alltid saker kvar att pyssla med! Hoppas du också har en härligt jul!

Förra veckan kände jag för att rita lite snöflingor på fri hand efter att ha sett massa häftiga sådana på Instagram. Jag fick för mig att det vore kul att kombinera detta med att försöka skapa lite av en relief/lite djup genom att välja att ett texturlack för flingorna. Jag tycker det blev kul! Kanske inte en extremt tydlig effekt, men i alla fall.

Basen är ett mintfärgat lack från Essence över vilket jag lagt ett glitter från Wet n Wild. Mitt texturlack är p2 Precious, en dupe till Isadora Gold Crush så vitt jag kan se. En sak jag särskilt gillar med denna manikyr är just att den är ihopsatt av olika budgetlack men att det sammanslaget inte alls syns, det är kanske inte exklusivt, men i alla fall riktigt snyggt :).

Bite into the holidays

So my active holiday last week was so much fun (I got more exercise in a week than I usually get in two months ;) ) but coming back home so close to the holidays felt a little stressful! Think I'm on top of the situation again now and I also think my manicure is Christmas inspired enough to qualify for LeLack's Nail Art Sunday.

You might remember me doing the same look this summer actually, and I did feel like it was more of a winter look so when I got Pahlish Fevers and Mirrors in the mail the other day I figured it would make for some beautiful apples and recreated the manicure.

Fevers and Mirrors appears to me to be a red with both warm and cold undertones. It has round golden glitter but also many smaller prismatic glitter which come to life when I'm under brighter lights. I used three coats and do feel like it created some wicked apples.

Finally I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I hope that you are relaxed and comfortable, maybe enjoying some time off from work or school surrounded by friends and family.

Min aktiva semester förra veckan var riktigt härlig men det blev lite stressigt att komma hem så nära inpå ledigheterna. Pust. Nu tror jag dock jag har situationen under kontroll och att jag lyckats få ihop en tillräckligt julig manikyr för att platsa på LeLacks Nail Art Sunday.

Det är möjligt att du minns att jag har gjort samma design i somras men då kände jag att detta var mer av en vintermanikyr. När nu Pahlish Fevers and Mirrors landade i brevlådan i förrgår klickade det till och jag insåg att den vill jag göra vackra äpplen med.

Fevers and Mirrors ser i mina ögon ut att vara en röd med både varma och kalla undertoner. Det finns lite större runda guldglitter men också mindre prismatiskt glitter som kommer till liv i starkare ljus. Jag upplever den framförallt som varm på mina naglar men i direkt ljus så ser man de kalla tonerna mer. Jag använde tre lager och tycker att den blev till kanonfina äpplen.

Slutligen vill jag önska alla en riktigt god jul! Jag hoppas att du är bekvämt tillbakalutad i soffan, ledig från jobbet och omgiven av familj och vänner. 

Non snow flakies

If you read a British nail blog or two you probably can't help but want some Barry M polishes from time to time. My most recent "have to have" from Barry M is a flakie topper that they released this fall. Since the brand is available at ASOS with free international shipping it's easy enough to get your hands on those square bottles. 

This is two coats of Crystal Glaze over Honk If You Love OPI. The flakies are easy to work with and also require very little top coat unlike most glitter toppers. In some lights the polish is nothing special but at the right angle it's perfection.

Here you really see the reason I'm digging my Crystal Glaze! 

Swatch of Honk If You Love OPI. A deep purple, almost eggplant. Easy to work with, covers in two coats. What more could I ask for?

Om du läser brittiska nagelbloggar så kan du säkert inte hjälpa att du ibland vill ha lack från Barry M. Senast att väcka ha-begär hos mig är ett effektlack med flakies som släpptes i höstas, Crystal Glaze. Då Barry M säljs på ASOS med fri frak så är det enkelt att få tag på de små trevliga fyrkantiga flaskorna.

Detta är två lager av Crystal Glaze ovanpå Honk If You Love OPI. Det är ett lättjobbat effektlack som dessutom inte äter överlack som så många glittervarianter gör. I vissa ljus är lacket inget särskilt men i rätt vinkel är det perfektion.

Honk If You Love OPI är en djup lila, nästan auberginefärgad. Lättjobbad, täcker på två lager, vad mer kan man begära?

Loving sunday

I'm just going to assume that Nail Art Sunday today comes with an open theme. Since I'm scheduling this early because of my trip I don't know for sure but will hope it works out :)

This is some stamping I did with one of the stamping plates from Messy Mansion that I recently ordered. I fell for the candy inspired designs on MM03 (I have a thing for Love Hearts and its cute messages) and decided to use it over the Maybelline Wine Shimmer. I bought this polish after seeing it on LeLack actually, she didn't care too much for it but I loved it. So beautiful!

Idag visar jag i alla fall stämpling med en av de plattor från Messy Mansion jag nyligen köpte. Jag föll för den godisinspirerade designen på MM03 (gillar verkligen Love Hearts med sina söta budskap) och använde den över Maybellines Wine Shimmer. Detta lack köpte jag efter att ha sett det hos LeLack, hon gillade det inte med det gjorde jag. Så snyggt!

Green mashup

If all has gone according to plan I will be on one of the Canary Islands since yesterday. Kicking it back on a beach chair you might assume but I am actually doing a fitness week together with a co-worker. Neither one of us is a complete workout freak but after having talked about doing something similar for a while we finally went ahead and booked this week earlier this fall. I don't mind doing nothing at all on a holiday but now that I come fully prepared for exercise (with pretty much all my gym clothing) I'm hoping I will enjoy being active at least a few hours a day. I will also really enjoy not working for a week! Feels very luxurious this close to Christmas.

Don't know about my internet situation for this trip so I might not be able to check in with Vacker & Underbar on time but I will still show you some green today. Maybe it can still find its way to the InLinkz?

Om allt har gått som det ska befinner jag mig på Kanarieöarna sen igår. Slappandes på en solstol kanske du tänker då men jag är faktiskt på en fitnessvecka tillsammans med en kollega. Ingen av oss är egentligen något gymfreak men vi har pratat om att åka på aktiv semester ett tag och i början på hösten slog vi till och bokade denna vecka. Det känns riktigt skönt nu! Jag har egentligen ingenting emot att göra ingenting på semestern men jag hoppas att jag ändå kommer känna för att röra på mig ordentligt, särskilt som jag massa gymkläder med mig. Jag kommer garanterat njuta av en veckas jobbfrihet också. Känns lyxigt så här precis innan jul.

Vet inte exakt hur min Internetsituation kommer se ut så jag kanske inte kan besöka Vacker & Underbar i tid men jag visar ändå grönt idag. Kanske kan den ändå hitta in i InLinkz-kollaget?
